Traveling is the essence of my life. Taking a few days off and going on a venture to a foreign place –I can’t think of another way to make me thrilled like this! Though it’s just the third month of my life in the United States, I’ve already been to several places, exploring local beauty, keeping my curiosity, and immersing myself in passion and youth!
I love the idea of traveling alone, but it’s always better to be accompanied! Traveling with my best friend had made this trip amazing and fantastic!
On the Labor Day last month, I flew all the way from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas. I didn’t even know which direction I was going to until I finally arrived there! The heat wave reminded me that I must be heading south lol.
It’s been so long since the reunion last time. IT WAS GIRLS’ CATCHUP TIME! We rent an SUV and she was the driver. Honestly, I was pretty surprised to see her sitting in the SUV which appeared to be a super giant tank for girls! I doubt that someone wouldn’t think it was unmanned driving through the windshield >.<.
We lived in Airbnb. It was a fantastic experience not only because it was cheaper than the hotel, but I also enjoyed the lovely conversation with the local people! I arrived earlier than my friend (she was flying from NYC), so I got the luck to have dinner with my host. She was an 60-year-old woman living with her dog Iggy. She divorced with her ex-husband and now lives alone. But she is not lonely at all! She has great taste in Art and is also a brilliant writer! She writes about amazing short stories and keeps writing journals every day. That is what I am trying to do. Great minds think alike!
I love all the little decorations on her blue, yellow, and red walls. The color matches up perfectly with each other. Every corner of her house is full of tiny little details demonstrating that the host has a warm and exquisite life.
What touched me most was her attitudes towards life. When the sun started to fall below the horizon, we began small talks as we enjoy cups of handmade ice-creams at the town. The nice and warm talks concerning love, life, work, and people made me share my little secrets and all the worries with her. The feedback was sincere and warmhearted. We were sharing like best friends. The most amazing part is that sometimes you won’t split out a single word to whom you have been with for years, but you will share all your secrets to whom you just knew for hours, spontanueously. She inspired me with her abundant insights and her charismatic maturity. I felt grateful.
See? That’s the best part of my journeys. I might forget about the places I’ve been to and things I’ve done in the city. I might not remember everyone I met in a trip, eventually. But the feeling of trusting someone and sharing some of the deepest topics would never fade away!
Traveling is not just about how many tourist attractions you’ve been to or how many photos you’ve taken. It’s about being in every scenery and mingling with people you met. It’s about feeling the pulse of the city and touching the history etched on its skin. When I was on a trip, I was trying to connect with people and understand their lives as a reflection of myself. When I come back, my heart is already fully loaded with positiveness and enthusiasm to face another bright shiny day. I guess that’s the meaning of traveling.
pretty interesting and I really think that was a fantastic trip. BTW, I like the puppy and your last pics.
Yayyy! I am sure I’ll have better pics in the coming weekend. Let’s wait and see~>.<
Hey, I love your blog! I’m a fashion blogger in LA too. Maybe we can do collaboration sometimes:)

i love your blog
Thanks mum. I’ll keep doing this 🙂
Cool. How do you like Austin? I am sure you had most fun with your friends. I am pretty into the idea of traveling alone like you are. Must be so awesome to have all the sentimental or crazy moments by one self solely. Kind of hard to enjoy solitude in hustle-bustle. Complexity’s the worse. So weird that people likes to go on journeys to “find inner peace”. Personally, travling is to witness how innocent we are in this vastness. Should be scared and at least have the urge to study more about the unknown, shouldn’t we? Ah I am such a killjoy saying all that crap. Anyway please keep the pictures coming up. I do enjoy reading journals of a complete stranger and further working on my keyboard typing.
Yeah, I like Austin for its slow pace and friendly people. It’s very different from LA. In LA, everybody is rushing. They are impatient, impetuous and bossy (well…not that bad but you get the idea). Traveling is like a getaway. Just like you said, it’s hard to enjoy solitude in such a fast tempo city. But still, I keep reading and try my best to find some balance. You can’t just keep running through things without pausing. And those lonely and sentimental time are more like a present for me. It’s at those moments that I could write really good stuffs. So, just be grateful for everything that happens in life. And once again, thank you for your encouragements! Please keep following 🙂
“connect with people and understand their lives as a reflection of myself” It’s ambitious and smart. Travelling teaches us the life.
