Hello guys! How’s your Thanksgiving holiday? Hope everybody had a good one!
I did enjoy my Thanksgiving a lot!!! I know Thanksgiving is a time when family get together, enjoying a big meal and embracing some warm and nice moments. But for International students like me, of course it’s the best time for traveling! So this time, I headed to Santa Barbara, a coastal city near Los Angeles.
Normally it takes 2 hours to get there, but it took me 3 hours because of the heavy traffic. But I was totally fine with that! Santa Barbara is such a cozy place that you don’t even want to leave!!!
A quick look at the coastline of SB, you will know why I said so. Santa Barbara’s climate is Mediterranean, with mild to cool winters. It was not like freezing cold, so I loved it! A slow walk along the waterfront was just so romantic! You’ll be amazed by the awesome views! I also enjoyed a big meal in the most popular restaurant Brophy Bros, where I tasted both the hot and cold combos. It included beer-boiled shrimps, steamed clams, oysters, mussels, clams, crabs and many others! The price was reasonable, so highly recommended!!
There are lots of other places to explore in the city! I went to Mission Santa Barbara for a dose of Spanish-era history and culture. I am a big fan of any art related things, so the architecture also fascinated me. I took lots of pictures there, just trying to pretend I was in Europe! Hee hee~~ It was also very nice to relax in the Rose Garden across the street and take in the gorgeous island, ocean, and mountain views!
Santa Barbara Courthouse is also a great place to check out. Being on the top of the building, I got to see the view of the whole city. It was so peaceful. The birds were singing on the trees. People walked slowly along the streets. Totally a different scene from LA! In LA, I walk pretty fast and often rush to catch the shuttle. I don’t pay much attention to my surroundings, though I really wish I had. But in SB, I did notice a lot of tiny things. Maybe that’s why I love traveling a lot. It saves me from the busy schedule and allows me to take a look at people around me. That is also why I prefer the inn to hotel. During my time in SB, I lived in the Brisas del mar Inn. The receptionist was very friendly. She made me feel at home. They even offered hundreds of movies to rent! When I asked for tour guides, she offered great help. Sooooo nice!
I didn’t take much photos this time, but heres are some of them.
I don’t like Mexican food very much, but this one tastes really good! It is called Los Agaves and it has more than 1700 reviews on Yelp! Amazing!
I captured this picture on my way to Santa Barbara! Sunset on the road. What could be nicer??!
